I've been resetting for hours now trying to start off my new town with a great map. It's taking a while though because there are several specific things I'm looking for:
South-facing waterfall with plenty of space to put my house right next to it by the cliffside
Smaller area on the southern half of the map, cut off by the river, so I can plot villagers there
Town hall, Retail, and Plaza cannot be in that smaller area reserved for plotting villagers
Very small private beach
Any fruit but oranges or pears
Secluded area for campsite
...it's definitely a lot to ask for. But since your map layout means practically everything in the long run, I want to keep resetting until I'm completely satisfied.
I'm also struggling to pick one name and stick with it. I know I want it to have something to do with greenery (fern, ivy, meadow, etc) but I'm having trouble turning those words into something more my style, like my other town names.
I feel your pain. I searched off and on for a couple of days before I settled on Pripyat. It was frustrating, but totally worth it! Like you, I had a lot of must-haves. I hope you find your perfect map soon!
Maybe stop for a bit and come back to it tomorrow. I got fatigued after hours and it helped to take a break to clear my head c: good luck!!! I know your pain!!!
My main requirements for a map is only 1 pond and a river that's not too windy or cuts across in a weird way. It takes so long to map hunt that I try to be less picky than I want to be.
I kind of hate my second town's name too but I have a real nice map and I worked hard on plot resetting my villagers that idk what to do. Plus my villagers -never- request pwps on that town either.
I think I finally found a map...it has everything I want except the small private beach. But town hall and plaza are right next to each other, and retail is right against the train tracks on the opposite side of the station. It's pretty awesome. Plus, one of my starters is Kid Cat and his house is in a perfect spot in the small area I wanted for villagers. I'm going to let him move out of Pyrena and just keep him in Luferna! It works out perfectly.
Peony~ it definitely helped that I stepped away for a few hours and came back to it later. I was getting so annoyed before.
gem83~ good luck!! I was getting really frustrated. don't forget to take breaks so you don't burn out!
namstar~ do you think it would be hard to find a new map similar to the one you have in the town with the name you hate?
I'm not sure how long it would take. I'm actually more concerned about giving up all the hours I spent plot resetting my villagers than anything. I don't know if a crummy name is worth losing all that.
