can't connect to my friend??

i made an account just to see if anyone has had this issue before or has figured out how to fix it.

my friend and i get error code 018-0515 every time we try to visit each other. we've both gone through the NAT type, DMZ, etc. listed on nintendo support.

i spoke to someone with nintendo support, but the person had no idea how to help beyond this besides "both of you buy new routers".

neither of us have anyone else to connect to to even see whose end it's on.

if it's any help, i use an AT&T velocity for my wifi. my hotspot on my phone won't work, either.

So just to clarify, neither of you board the train and get to the others station? Have you tried doing a test run for your internet on the 3ds settings?

no, it comes up before boarding. we click on the town, it says the train is coming, and then it happens.

i've done tons of test runs :/ nothing is wrong

Under system settings, there's a internet setting tab. Your connection should be there and if you click on it you can do connection tests as you mentioned. Ask your friend if they did the same thing. It should come up as successful for both sides. Test your friends to when he is with you.

The only other thing I can suggest is to make sure the wireless slider is on.

we've done connection tests. we can both connect without issue. both wireless sliders are on.
