Can you reset for the first 3 villagers?

I bought a new switch so I can have a second island. In this island, I generally don't mind what villagers I have, but I do plan on having Stitches at some point so I can grind for his photo (and give it to my main island). It would be easier if I could just cycle through starter lazy villagers until I find Stitches. Is it possible to reset for Stitches if I leave the island I find the first lazy on and keep burning through NMT?

I think once you invite a normal and a peppy, you will only see lazy villagers on mystery islands. So yes, it should be relatively easy then to find stitches. If you need some nmt let me know! Happy to donate some for your hunt.

You are able to keep visiting Nook Miles Islands to get specific villagers, though it's random chance whether you'll be lucky enough to find who you're looking for in a timely manner. It took me weeks to find Tucker this way, after I'd already chosen Annalisa and Bella as my Normal and Peppy and was limited to just Lazies, but it was worth it in the end. You'll probably see the same villagers show up a lot.

The deciding factor, though, is whether you care about what the interior design of his house looks like, since you might find that you're missing out if you prefer his personal house over the generic early-game Lazy house.

You're the sweetest! If I'm struggling to find Stitches I'll let you know! I can pay you back with the same amount of NMT on my main island. It's silly how I can't just trade between Island #1 and Island #2 unless I buy a whole other Nintendo Online or even a whole other ACNH cartridge. Thanks, Nintendo!

Good to hear! There are 74 lazy villagers in general, with fewer still in New Horizons. I have faith that I will eventually stumble upon Stitches. I'm okay with the default house for him since I may or may not even keep him in the long run. I also don't think the lazy house looks too bad! It's the uchi and jock houses that are rancid. The default peppy house is super cute, on the other hand!!

Are you able to similarly reset for peppies and normals? I'm not too worried about them buuuut I can't say no to the thought of having Eunice, whose regular house is terrible anyways, as my starter normal.

I went to multiple islands for each of my first three. The difference is you see a blend of all three types until you invite one of each. So it would get harder to find any one villager the more types you still have uninvited, but it’s still the best chances you get from the mystery islands.

That's still good to know in case I come across a villager I just can't do. For example, I don't particularly want any repeats that I already have or have had on my first island!

Thanks for the info as well as your kind offer! I'll let you guys know what villagers I find as well as how long it takes to find Stitches. We could bet on that one.

I just want you all to know that I done played myself. I screwed up to an insane degree I didn't think possible of a person who's played through New Horizons before. I totally thought that once I put down the three plots, I'd be able to go NMT hunting once I was done crafting the furniture.

Wrong.

The plots auto-filled and I wasted my first NMT. (At least it was free).

The villagers are:

1. Midge (normal) -- This is way too ironic since I tried her out on my main island and, freaked out by the back of her head, I yeeted her. She's back with a vengeance, I tell you.
2. Bluebear (peppy) -- I'm actually happy about this one. I think she's real cute. I'm just bummed out by the fact I have two cubs now (my other is Tammy, my starter, who I also like).
3. Sherb (lazy) -- I feel blase about him, but at least someone will want him if I don't connect with him.

Have you all made this mistake before, or is this just me??

Because the game will slowly increase the chance of the plot being filled every day that passes. Doesn't matter if you play online or not. If you don't have a villager in your void some another player, the game will just give you one.

Nope, can't do that! I reset for too long looking for an orange airport. I'll grin and bear it and if I must, I'll get Stitches through other means. I feel like it's fate that I ran into Midge, Sherb, and Bluebear, though. Granted, I'm still in disbelief. I feel like a moron.

If it’s any consolation, you probably wouldn’t want starter villagers you were going to keep since they’d be in the starter houses? So maybe it’s for the best? Though I’d be mad too if I missed out on island hopping— I really miss that aspect of gameplay, even though it is stressful!

You should go to islands before doing the houses because they get filled as soon as they are complete.

Neither of us got bad villagers, I got yuka and he got pancetti (who actually is one of my favorite snooties now) but it was such a disappointment to miss out on island hopping for someone. Neither of us got bad villagers, I got yuka and he got pancetti (who actually is one of my favorite snooties now) but it was such a disappointment to miss out on island hopping for someone. Oof, I'm glad I'm not the only one then! Yuka and Pancetti are both very good snooties, though I have a soft spot for Yuka (I have her in my New Leaf). Speaking of snooties, funny story -- one of my plots just wasn't filling up yesterday, so I decided to scan in an amiibo. But because of the three-day-bull, on top of the fact that this villager kept insisting on me crafting the most complicated recipes, Snooty took his plot! I was outraged and so moved her out the second I could! Lol. I have nothing against her, but she foiled my plans!

Thanks for the good luck!! I'm hoping that Stitches will replace Sherb at some point. ❤ After that, we'll see what villager shenanigans I get into. I actually may end up keeping Tammy even though my plan was to find Reneigh at some point. The question is... do I keep her crappy starter house?
