Can you make a villager stop wearing something (without going to Residence Services)?

I made the unfortunate mistake of giving Shari the workout top. I thought it would look cute on her, but now she just looks naked.

I don’t want to reset her clothing through Residence Services because that would get rid of ALL her clothing. I just want her to stop wearing the workout top... What would you suggest?

You could try giving her another piece of clothing? As far as I'm aware, I don't think you can select a specific piece of clothing to remove through the resident services.

Are you sure going to resident services would remove all her clothes? Last I heard, it would make her change clothes without taking anything out of her "closet" including, unfortunately, what you don't want her to wear.

So my experience with resident services... I reported a villager for clothing, which made me feel bad but I needed to change the clothes because it just looked bad imo, they wore a Nook Aloha shirt for like 5 mins and then reverted back to their original clothing that they come with when you first find them versus adopting from another player. The villager did keep the accessory on their head for a bit but then removed it and haven't worn it again since, but this all happened over just a few hours so they may wear that headgear again for all I know. I'm praying that it's gone for good. The headgear that they were wearing from the previous island does not match this villager's particular style or color preference based on their profile so I'm really hoping they never wear it again... I recommend giving her stuff she likes more, color and style wise, and just hoping.

the above posters already gave good advice, but for the future, you can go to harvey’s island to see how different clothes and accessories look on villagers before you gift them!

That happened to me when someone gave my villager an instant muscles suit, I had to give the villager clothes for 2 days and I hadn’t seen it since.

Update: Shari gifted me a colorblock shirt the same color as the horrific workout top she was STILL wearing. I ended up giving the shirt back to her so she could wear it, instead. She definitely recognized the regifted gift but at least she's wearing it now!

All I can think of now is Shari from Jack Septiceye and how maybe he might have liked Shari if she showed a little more monkey butt. ;P

I know they all walk around pants-less. I even a full body suit does not cover them all. Which is kinda strange. Though I never really take notice. Except for Whitney in her Kimono. Cause the world is curved. If she is just up ahead of me enough. Some times I get this weird angle that looks like I am looking up her skirt. Makes me feel a little awkward for a moment. Like, I have seen her but in her work out top. Why is this bugging me? Won't have her change though. She looks great in that Kimono. Very pretty and elegant. ;P

You can gift them the same outfit. It will take several days but the outfit will eventually cycle out.

I accidentally gave Gala a workout top and I was scarred for life.

Currently LMAO. Glad to see I am not the only one with a life-changing experience with the workout top or even Shari, for that matter.

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but I made this same mistake with Tammi a few weeks back, and she still continues to cycle it into her rotation each week despite me giving her several other outfits from her preferred clothing list on Nook Plaza. As others had mentioned, talking to Resident Services doesn't take clothes out of their wardrobe, it just causes them to change temporarily.

What you could try is giving her other workout clothes like the track jacket or something - I haven't tried that yet but it's the only thing left I can think of.
