Can you have a digital and physical copy on the same DS?

Exactly what the title says. I'm going to get a 2nd town soon (thanks so much to everyone who helped me!) and I thought, hey why bother going to buy one/ordering one online when you can buy it in the eShop?

So is that possible?

Welp, even after deleting tons of photos and videos and many apps and games I don't play, I still don't have SD card space so I guess I'll be getting another physical copy after all. :/

Yep, cleared them all out, plus all the music 12 year old me downloaded to my DS. :/ Ah well, another cartridge will be cheaper anyway.

You could get a new SD card if you want. It may cost a little more right now because you'd pay for that and the digital game, but if you choose to buy more games from the eshop in the future or if you create more streetpass/whatever data that uses the SD card, it would be beneficial to have. You don't necessarily need to buy one if you have one around your house somewhere. I think I used an old SD card that I used for my camera. I transferred over from my old SD card by copying every file as it was from my old SD onto my computer, then clearing the SD I wanted to use in its place and loading every file as it was onto my new one.
But you could buy a used physical copy of ACNL and it would be cheaper.

Also, another solution is if you still have photos or something that you don't want to delete, you could transfer them over to your PC and delete them from your SD card to save some space.
