Can you give villagers music boxes?

I want to give music boxes to some of my villagers so that I can listen to the music box versions of songs that fit them when I visit their houses. I've been trying to get them to display them in their homes, but no such luck so far. Is it even possible to do that? I could have sworn that I've seen villager houses in dream addresses that had music boxes in them, but I can't remember very well.

I've had Muffy display a music box in her house once, I gave it to her through a request though. I'd say they're able to display the music box if you mailed it too, although I've never tried
