Can you give villagers fossils in this game, and will they display it in their house?

My poor sister will never live down the moment where she accidentally gave Sprinkle a brachiosaurus skull in New Leaf. I died of laughter every time I went inside her house, because no matter how many gifts my sister gave her, Sprinkle never replaced her beloved fossil. She actually has Sprinkle again in New Horizons, and I've been trying to convince her to give her a dinosaur skull for "old times sake," but then I thought, would she even display it in this game? Does anyone know?? Lol

Edit: I have yet to see if it's in his house, but when I gave it to him his response was "what a splendiferous relic"

I've seen people say they won't display them, but I won't be trying to find out. I guess they also won't display huge fish like the sunfish, either. But, let's wait and see what people say.

They might display the smaller ones such as a Dinosaur Track, but from my experience they won't display any of the larger items.

I haven't seen my villagers display anything bigger than 2x1
