Can you create a new character to get the 10 free MEOW coupons?

I'm wondering if I can create a new character just to get the 10 free MEOW coupons Isabelle gives out and then spend them on stuff and delete the character. Does a new character have to do something or be in the town for a few days to get them, or does Isabelle give them out immediately after placing the house?

Well, my alt characters also received the 10 free coupons, so the answer is, yes

Yup. I used my 3 other alts to get the free 14 coupons.

You can reuse the cards daily, even if you just ask them to give you an item instead of asking to move in.

I did this all the time in the beginning because I got such annoying initiatives to fulfil (like catch a shark, donate a bug even though the only ones left are the scorpion and tarantula T_T). But now I just hoard coupons on my two other permanent residents. It works, but you're going to need space for an area of land you don't mind having an ugly large dirt patch constantly :/
