I can beat a lvl 9 CPU with Pac-Man and Greninja, and that's about it. I can't beat them with any other character.

What just happened to the LVL9 CPU in the 3DS after the 1.0.5 update?
Did they just get better!?They perfectly airdodge everything thrown to them, fast falls aerial attacks, DI's out of throws, and punishes every little lag you have! Seriously! I can't do a D-throw to u-air Sheik Combo anymore! I even thought the trajectory of the throw has changed!
Anyone else has experienced this?

I think you might be high.

I personally haven't tried to take down any LVL 9 CPU or LVL 50 amiibo (the latter have added attack power and defense even without customs), but I've witnessed a fair amount of fights with them and people discussing about that. And I'm talking about the Wii U version's AI.

If you're into the competitive scene of Smash, then every type of CPU is bad for sparring because there's not much strategy in general on how to defeat them. It's completely a different ballgame, since there's pretty much no guaranteed way to guess which move the LVL 9 CPU will actually use next. They also seem to react and decide with RNG to dodge or not based on your attack input a frame after, making it the matter of landing a hit a matter of luck. The silver lining behind them is that, they seldom choose the best attacks for any given situation, because of their decision is based on the AI Roulette. It makes them a bit unpredictable for sure, but if they use an attack that leaves them vulnerable for long enough, that's when you should punish them. The best way to succeed in that case is to have a good knowledge on the finer aspects from all of the attacks they could use at any time and play defensively.

When fighting more than one CPU on Classic Mode with an Intensity of, say 7.0+, it's not a bad idea to let them duke themselves and run away from them. Once there's only one left, they will be so damaged that it'll take little effort to send them flying to the blast line/danger zone. The last few CPUs from that match are apparently easier to beat than you would think, because their difficulty level is significantly lower than the intensity you've set (as it's too difficult to single-handedly defeat 7 LVL 9 CPUs) and that they're significantly damaged while you're sitting with very little to no damage when done correctly. The same can be said for All-Stars Hard difficulty as well, albeit more obvious. But still, the more characters there are, the more random factor has potential to ruin your run.

I beat 7 level 9's on palutena's temple without attacking. They were all on a team against me.
