I was just wondering if villagers will ping to move during event days like St. Patrick's Day, Havest, Halloween etc? Will they most likely ask to move the following day instead? When is it too late to stop a villager from moving?

Thanks!

Well, today on shamrock day I heard Chrissy was moving but I couldn't get a ping from her no matter what I did. Until I TT'd to the next day, and sure enough she pinged me right away.
Although, on fishing tournaments, after the ceremony, I've gotten a ping before. Idk it's weird, I thought you could get pings on holidays but I guess with some you can't.

Also, when a villager decides to move it will be 5 days from then. So, you have quite a bit of time to catch them before they're in boxes, once they are in boxes then it's too late.

The only event I know that they will ask to move out is New Year fireworks when I was pulling weeds a villager came to me and asked that was in my cycling town.

Yes, they can. On March 16, Marshal told me Bonbon was thinking about moving. But I couldn't get her to ping at me because she was attending Doc's birthday party.
Then on today's event Shamrock day, I approached her and let her compliment the green hat my character was wearing and then save and quit. Then I reloaded the game and walk back to her where she did ping at me and told me the news.

And I said no, you're a permanent villager sorry. lol

Weird, I heard a moving rumor today and can't get her to ping me no matter how many times I save+quit. I'll have to wait til tomorrow to tell her to stay :P

Ooooh that makes sense. So basically once you've gotten past the talk about festivals, then they can ping you. Aha, now I know why Chrissy didn't ping me. I never wear the shamrock hat xD

It depends on the event/holiday. After the Bug Off/Fishing Tourney ends and you attend the ceremony, they can start to ping you. Some holidays they won't ping at all so you have to be careful when you're time traveling. If the move out date is supposed to be on the day of a holiday where they can't ping you, they can move out the next day. That chance of that happening is rare though and if you play everyday and talk to your villagers to see who has an inclination to move out, you should be safe.

its not always 5 days, it can be less.

what time did this take place? was it after midnight by any chance??

I don't think you can, today was fishing tourney in my town so that's all my animals talk about really, no matter how many times you talk to them. I guess from reading the comments above you can get rumours of move-outs but you can't actually get a moving ping on an event day.

Well what I meant was when they actually do decide to move. Like, if you catch them that day, it will be 5 days from then.. but if you don't, and go to the next day or even after that, then they'll tell you they're moving in 4 days, 3 days, etc..
