Can the Playstation 3 Slim play PS2 games?

I'm being made trade in my PS2 so I can get a PS3 Slim on my birthday (May 16th) and I was wondering if it can play PS2 games?

I'm sure a lot of you have the PS3 Slim, so I'd appreciate some information.

Well, you could also just look around for a cheap PS2 later on, maybe 30-50 bucks?

Sadly not. There have been talks of PS2 emulation coming soon, but we might have to wait until the PS2 stops being manufactured. There's a date floating around somewhere, but I can't think of it off the top of my head.

If you want the PS3 that plays PS2 and PS1 games, I'd go for the same one I want.

The PS3 60GB version.

I had to make a tough decision, because we ran out of space under the TV...

But throwing out the vcr was one I stand by...

Nope. Which sucks since the PS2 has some of the best games around. They can however play PS1 games. There is an older version of the PS3 that plays PS2 games but they're extremely hard (if not impossible) to find now.
