Okay, so... I've been very disconected from ACNL. About a year without playing. I recently picked it up and found that there's this new actualization thingy. Cool! Then I see people having amazing plotting and getting great villagers and furniture items with these amiibo cards and I'm so confused?

I have a couple of questions:

How do you manage to put all the houses where you want them?

Does the rule of past villagers no longer apply? (that if someone moved out, you can't get them back in town for a loooong while, after having like an entire cycle of like 50 villagers or something ridiculous like that).

Does this mean you can have all your dreamies if you own their cards?

Are all the villagers in the game available in said cards?

Can you make a villager move multiple times with these cards?

I'm just so confused! I know these are many questions and you don't have to answer to all of them (or any of them, for that matter). I just want to understand, and it seems interesting... I have a normal 3DS XL but it sounds very tempting to get the amiibo reader and some cards...

Houses where you want them: Look for threads that state Plot Resetting and they will guide you through the process.

Yes you can own all of your dreamies if you own their cards (actual cards, not the SP - that is my understanding, may be incorrect).

You truly can own any villager at any time if you have their cards. Scanning a villager in by amiibo ignores the 16 villager cycle rule.

What?! That's crazy, and very cool... but for what I've seen you can only get random cards from a package meaning getting your dreamies from those cards must be by luck as well. Or am I mistaken?

Does this mean I can use them over and over? If they accidentally move out, I can just use my card again?

Or you can buy them on ebay... :>

You can buy I divide al cards but I just get random packs. Sure you are taking a gamble but I like the surprise. I did get Molly and Whitney among many others. You have to find stores with them still in stock though or just go to amazon.

Are there people selling individuals?

Can you get individual cards from official retailers/Nintendo directly or only through third party like sellers on ebay?

Third party. I have a Walmart by me that has a ton of series 1 and 2 cards in stock though.

Villagers will no longer move in on paths if there is room enough to move in. With a little effort and placing a square in the center of each 3x3 area, you can determine where villagers move in without plot resetting.....at least that is what others say (I can't personally attest to this as I haven't moved anyone in a while).

There is a difference between the amiibo figures (statues) and the cards: the cards will let Whisp move them in or give you a random item. The statues will cause that character to move their RV into the park to buy their stuff with Meow Coupons. Some amiibos from other series work with ACNL (Wolf Link is now a villager).

Both will let you play the Island Rescue mini-game without having to use play coins.

There are four series of 100 cards, with a total of 400 cards. I don't know how many statue amiibos there are. From each series, there are 17 special cards of non-villager NPCs (Nook, Isabelle) (68 in total?), which really only really allow you to get their pictures as an item.

In a few months, Nintendo is releasing another series specifically for RV characters (villagers that didn't make it into New Leaf) that will visit the park if you scan them (Welcome Amiibo cards). You can ask them to move in or buy their stuff.

Plot resetting is pretty nice now actually, villagers will not move onto paths so you can just spam patterns all over your town like..

(path) (empty) (empty) (path)
(empty) (empty) (empty) (empty)
(empty) (empty) (empty) (empty)
(path) (empty) (empty) (path)

So you spam this all over your town then just make a small 3x3 area and your villager will move in there. It's a lot of work I guess but it's better than the old RNG.

As for cards as the others stated you can own all the cards pretty much now. I do not suggest buying on eBay though unless you're comfortable with spending 5-20$ per single. Go buy yourself 4+ packs or so then trade them on the forum. Series 4 and the new Welcome Amiibos usually trade the best I find.

However due to this, collectors who have all 400 villagers can just load them into a town and cycle them for people.. which has practically killed the cycling business. However made getting your dreamy exceedingly easier.

I see... But I'm guessing to be able to trade I have to physically send the card?? That's difficult for me as I live in South America and shipping is terrible. Or is there a way to trade without sending them by mail?

The card trading board on here is where people physically mail cards to trade.

Yeah I caught that. But like I said, if I do get amiibo cards and stuff I might have to just give up and hoard them all since I cannot send mail over to the US as it's insanely expensive. I am still considering giving it a go, as it sounds very useful. My town is a MESS and i've wanted to restart it for a while. This would be a good chance to get my dreamies and plot resetting them properly.

Also another question came to my mind... are the sanrio cards available for the US game? or only JP game?

All cards can be used on any game. They aren't region locked.
At the moment only the UK and Japan have recieved the Sanrio cards.

Yes you must have the card in order to move the villager into your town. If you try via normal means you are still subject to the 16 villager cycle.
