can i dispose of a stump once it produced a mushroom?

They make more. I know I've had at least two rare mushrooms off one of my pattern stumps.

i've had a bunch of mushrooms off of one of my stumps. they keep growing, especially during November.

I would certainly suggest not removing those stumps if you want lots of mushrooms!
They will keep growing them, so even if they're in an inconvenient spot I think they're pretty worthwhile to keep around.
I had one right in the middle of where I wanted to place a pathway once >.< But it grew about five mushrooms before I reset the town (I saved the mushrooms, too >.>). I have yet to find a stump with a pattern on it in my new town

you can try to get a silver axe to make stumps where you want them, then it doesn't matter if you remove that one.
