I've been watering blue Hyacinths I managed to find on of Mystery Island for a while now and no new flowers have been produced I have them planted in a checkerboard pattern. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm hoping to get more blue ones for more pea**** butterflies to spawn.

Speaking of hybrids, the only colors I've managed to produce on my own are pink and orange flowers.

Red+Red cosmos flowers are suppose to produce black ones but I've had no success.

I've got blue hyacinths from a mystery island and I believe I've actually gotten purples from them. I know for sure, however, if you breed two white hyacinths together, you can get more blues. 😄

I believe it lies in RNG. Flowers also follow genetics here. But yeah, hybrids should produce hybrids as well, it just takes time. I had 2 black roses for a while and they just produced a black rose today.

Yep. Green mums produce green mums, but it takes patience! I'm up to about 18 now after getting my first one three weeks ago.

My blue & purple hyacinth patches are also growing. I got 2 new blue spawns today. Some days I get nothing, so again it's just patience unfortunately.

hybrids of same color should produce hybrids as well. don't know if it's just game mechanics, but blue roses are so easy to get once you get 3-4 of them. they breed like crazy, just like in new leaf. the other hybrids of the same color aren't really this quick (purple mums, purple roses, pink hyacinths-which is faster with red+white)

I get pretty much all my hybrids by putting clusters of hybrids of one colour together and watering them. When a new hybrid spawns, I replace one of the flowers in the cluster with it. With this method some of my clusters rarely ever produce any non-hybrid colour. Sometimes it takes a few days to get one additional hybrid, sometimes I get two in one day.

My hybrids produce all sorts of random stuff. Same color, other hybrid, even bass colors. Follow up question, do gold roses reproduce at all? Seems like mine havent been.

I experienced this with my black roses. When I water them, they were able to produced another black rose.

Yeah, my blue hyacinths produce more blues, sometimes a purple or a random red but hybrids generally produce more of the same.

nope and they never did. acquiring it just changed because the flowers don't wilt anymore.

flowers operate under a genetics system. There's more info about it here.

but about blue roses, the only allele combo that will produce them is RR-YY-ww-ss, so if you can get 2 of them, they will infinitely reproduce since there's only one combination of alleles that gives you the result. More details in the doc ^^
