Can hackers hurt me??

There was a hacker who came into my town and could run around super fast and have unlimited pocket space. How is this possible? Can they damage my town?

1. How is your internet? Are you sure it wasn't your or their character rubber banding
2. Did you see them pick up more than 40 items that were none stackable or full stacks

They shouldn't be able to damage your save file, unless hackers have the ability to modify game files on the spot now.

I did see there's a glitch to walk through fences so that might if you have anything important fenced off...

And a tip for the next time: hold the record button for a few seconds so you get a video of the last 30 seconds.
Will be hard in case of the unlimited pocket space but it could help for us to see if it's rubberbanding like what Sharksheep says or not.

Can they hurt you? Well I can't answer that. Not in the way to damage your file, but if they DO have unlimited space they can pick 40+ flowers (which are back in 2 days but ok). I just hope they can't hack things like they can get access to pick up everything like items of furniture. Not sure if this excists so no worries so far haha.

Oh and another tip: if you don't trust it just press - and close the gate or even better: turn your Switch in sleeping mode for maybe 10 seconds so they get kicked out and everything is back to when the last (auto)save was

i didn't know this could happen. I am curious about what happens. Since it's a local save file and with a visitor there are multiple save points during a visit I imagine it could do some damage.
