Can glitched items corrupt my ACNH save file?

Recently, I was given a crescent-moon chair that a player told me was altered with mods. The color of the chair would change based on its surroundings. I thought this was really cool until I started to worry about it corrupting my data. I did not want it to somehow ruin my 300+ hours of work. I decided that I didn’t want to sell it to somebody else (because I would feel terrible if it ruined their game), so I sold it to Timmy and Tommy in a friend’s town. Since I possessed a glitched item at one point, is it possible for me to get my game corrupted? I’m terribly worried.

nope, if your on a computer maybe put it in paint and shrink it

Can't find a way to make the pictures show up. Not really sure how to prove it, but unless he lied, it was a modded item or something. I got totally rid of it, but I'm not sure if it will ruin my game because it was in my inventory and placed on my island. At one point he was wearing a construction hat during online play. He might be a hacker, but his island is still perfectly fine. Unfriended him cause I'm just too paranoid.

Every claim I’ve seen of hacked items wrecking towns has turned out to be false. Even the star fragment trees apparently never caused dead spots or glitched saves. You’re like 99% okay, but don’t take those items if you’re worried. And lmao that you sold it at a friend’s store instead of your own.

Well, I'm going to assume that since it's now gone it won't affect your save file anymore. Even if it did. So far hacked items haven't affected save files, people were hacking in wedding items and summer crowns before they were even in game.

Also 'changes colour with it's surroundings' did you ever put it out? How 'does' it do that?

I have no idea. It wasn't transparent or anything, just glitchy and a mix of lots of different colors from that area. I wish I could upload the photos.

Judging by your icon, it looks like the texture is gone or not working properly, so it’s referencing the nearby textures? I saw someone mention something similar before with a hacked monster statue.

So I bought a glitched Monster Statue on ebay... for science...

I like getting AC merchandise and got recommended one of the many digitally sold sets on ebay. And it said it featured a 5th glitched Monster Statue. So... I couldn't get it out of my head all morning. Like wtf is that? Before I toss it in the trash (cause the paranoia in my mind won't let me...

you got rid of it? should be fine then. but i was gonna ask if the item was still customizable, because i feel like it could reset on its own or go back to normal. of course, just a guess but i feel like that how it should work.
