Campsite Woes

What am I doing wrong?

Dom is at my campsite today, so I played his card game and won. He wanted to kick out a villager I loved, so I hard quit the game, came back, and he asked to kick out another villager (one I won't move out), so I hard quit again. I didn't have to play his game any more times beyond the first.

But the third time I came back, he simply said he was declining to move in. What did I do wrong? I prodded him twice, and both times afterwards, he said he wasn't moving in.

I've already buckled and purchased the Amiibos for the villagers I do want (Dom would have been cute, but he's not a dreamie for me), but how do I get a camper to move in (and kick out the one I want)? ..Is there a limit to the 'quits' I can do? There weren't any autosaves taking place because I was quick, so I don't know what happened. :/

I think if you're stubborn and keep asking him he'll eventually say yes again.

I think you just have to keep talking to him to move in
