Okay so I have a villager in my campsite right now that I'd really like to have in my town. My town only has 9 villagers at the moment, so I'm fine on that front. The problem is, she's said "oh it'd be great to live here" but when I told her to move in, she changed her mind. If I keep talking to her, will she eventually agree or am I just doomed to not get her to move in this way? Are some campsite villagers coded to be there JUST to visit (if so they shouldn't even have the move in dialogue, so cruel to get our hopes up like that)

They can be so stubborn sometimes! Just keep talking to her, eventually she will either agree on her own or she will challenge you to a game that will decide whether she moves or not. You’ll get there eventually, it just might take you a while.. I had a lengthy discussion with a villager yesterday, it took me at least 20 conversations, of which 6 or 7 declines.

Okay so multiple declines aren't anything to worry about? I just started talking to her again and she declined again. Thanks for the quick answer c: I'm about to go prove that I am, in fact, more bull-headed than a video game.

Yeah, some villagers are a lot more stubborn than others about moving in from the campsite. To save time,I go into the campsite with empty pockets and no bells so the camper won't ask to play any games and I can just deal with getting them to agree to move to my town.

Relate, I had Roscoe in my campsite who was perfect for Treehut, so being my stubborn self, I made him move in.

He did refuse multiple times, so after a while I went outside and got some stuff that he'll play games for, like my megaphone (they really seem to like that :/ ) some random furniture and shells. After losing to one game, probably rock-paper-scissors, he again challenged me to charades, in which I won.

Sometimes I think if they refuse, just play some games with them. Or if you don't want to, empty your pockets and have less than 5,000 bells. They won't play with you if you don't have 5k.

Just keep trying. You're being very unlucky, sometimes campers can be incredibly stubborn when it comes to moving in. I once tried to invite Chief from my Campsite to move in and it took me almost two hours to get him to agree.

I wouldn't say I'm too terribly unlucky... because I just got her to agree! Thanks for the advice & encouragement to keep pushing through, everyone! My 'consolation prize' for the time spent is that I had some spare bells in my pockets and she sold me not one but two tent-exclusive furniture pieces lmao.

To anyone else in the same predicament: she refused me over 20 times before accepting. I preferred the "drop everything and have no money" strategy because she asked about moving more often.

It's really annoying when campsite villagers do that! Here you are trying to give them a nice home and the ungrateful wretches make you spend forever trying to get them to agree to move in. So rude of them to act that way.

Congrats on finally getting the villager to move in! It's so random the way that happens. I've had villagers agree to move in almost immediately and others take forever.

Out of curiosity, which villager was it?

Bianca! I'm planning a black/white/red aesthetic for my second town and I'm a cat person, so when a white tiger with black stripes & spots rolled into my campsite, how could I say no? (answer: a lot fewer times than she did)

Congrats. Ankha refused to move in when the girl mayor asked. After a long time I switched to the boy extra player and she said yes on the first try.

OML it happened to me alot of times
Most villagers in Town Kenma were mostly from campsite.
Gabi wasnt that hard, but she left, i miss her.
Took a few tries to get teddy but i got him eventually.
Kabuki- Maybe like 10 minutes?
Molly- maybe 5 mins?
Butch- maybe like 10 tries?

Town Lazy
Pierce- instantly said yes and came to the town

Congratulations for convincing Bianca! I have her as well. Her peppy personality despite big body feline always makes me smile - cute.<3
So, I have more than a town, and in each towns I don't know why but Marshal shows up in campsite often. And this cute little scum always for sure takes 4+ hours to convince. 100% always 4+ hours so far. I've been wondering if this is the same in other player's town.

Congratulations !!

I found what works really well for me is when I first enter and I'm interested in having them move to my town I'll play a few games, then I'll exit and empty my pockets, including all cash, then reenter and I find that limits their dialog which seems to speed things up most times, with the occasional stubborn prospect of course. :)
