i am considering trying the campsite reset trick to collect 10 dreamies in my town, but there are over 300 possible campers and i imagine it will take forever... has anyone tried this and had success with collecting their dreamies? how long did it take? was it worth it?

I don't think it's worth it if you have an incredibly specific set of villagers in mind.

However, I think campsite resetting can be useful to get popular villagers to trade for the ones that you want, e.g. you want Fang, your campsite gives you Marshal, you invite Marshal anyway so you can trade him for Fang.

Or you could just make money from turnips and buy villagers instead.

It depends on how picky you are. If you're just looking for campers you like, it shouldn't take too long. If you're looking for specific campers, of course it'll take longer, depending on the number. Really, too, you have to be lucky to get what you want.

I would also recommend keeping an eye on the Villager Trading Plaza and other sites. You can do both at the same time, and start up your game if you end up finding someone who has a villager you want moving out.

^ the main reason i don't like using the villager plaza to trade is that i feel like it's a battlefield and people are always outbidding each other and climbing on top of each other to get villagers lol it scares me

It's not that scary, dw.

Honestly, it all depends on your dreamies.
If you have low tier villagers, they will be harder to find in the villager trading plaza and you will only find them in cycling towns.
Higher tier villagers are easier to find, but other people might want to outbid you, or not.
Yesterday, I got my last dreamie, Merengue, and no one outbid me.

You should at least try to lurk for your dreamies in popular cycling threads that are trustworthy.

I can assure you that it's extremely tedious. extremely

I tried doing it for one dreamie. I ended up taking a couple hours because 1) there's not always going to be a villager in the campsite every time you reset, and 2) just plain bad luck.

If you're dedicated you can try but if you're even just a little impatient, you're going to be tearing your hair out. ;-;

I use the campsite to get lower tier villagers :)

besides it depends on how picky you are and how much time your willing to "waste"

In my experience, campsite resetting is an extreme pain in the butt. I spent about six hours resetting, and only found about two villagers I liked, and none of the six dreamies I was looking for. Ngl, I think you'd be better off lurking in cycling threads for lower tier villagers, or checking around on Tumblr/Reddit! I usually use villagertrade, ACNL Adopt (which is 100% free btw), and ACNL trades. Most villagers are much cheaper on there, too, since these sites don't have the same insane inflation that The Bell Tree has.

=_= Don't.
It's one of the most tedious activities besides beetle farming.
The only time I did invite villagers from campsites was when I loaded my game randomly and found a villager I liked.

Honestly, using the forum saves so much more time.

Have you used villager resetting? Campsite resetting is really only usable once (the day after your campsite is built) but I use villager resetting and it usually takes me around 2 days to get 8/10 dreamies (one of each personality) and then I can build the campsite and use resetting the day after it's built to get #9. I currently have 9/10 dreamies and I restarted last Friday night. However if your dreamies do not include one of each personality this method would be less effective.
