"from what ive heard however, theres a chance that your save data can get corrupted if one resets too much"
I don't know if that is true or not.
I have reset a little bit, I think I press the home button and then close without saving - I'm careful to do it fairly slowly, I think that's where there might be a possibility of corruption - where you start clicking the buttons/tapping the screen very fast, even tho you are not actually saving.
In an original 3ds manual (for the UK) it says "Do not repeatedly turn the power on and off: Doing so can lead to malfunction and loss of data on SD cards and in the System Memory"
Don't know what it says in later manuals.
I presume you are using the home button, not the power button - with care you should be OK.
I don't know of an easier way, sorry.
Corruption is usually random and there is always a very, very small chance that your game could be corrupted even if you don't do anything wrong. The only way to 100% avoid corruption is to never play which defeats the point of avoiding corruption. I've done a lot of plot resetting and have never had my game get corrupted, so it's usually safe. If you are really paranoid about that 0.0000000001% chance or whatever probability it is of your game getting corrupted, then back up your save file, but your chances of corruption if you do plot reset are about the same as if you don't plot reset.
