I initially loved the campground concept and it seemed like a good way to have at least a little more control in deciding what neighbors you'd like to have move in - heck, two of my neighbors had originally begun their new lives in Pandy Town as adventure seeking campers that I'd asked to stay.

Which was neat!

However, once my island reached its max population, the campground began to very quickly lose its importance - why was expected, btw. I wasn't really disappointed by this, per se. It was just something that I'd noted.

When I started to let residents move out, I figured that when someone would, it would trigger an animal to appear at the campground. But no such animal appeared.

(I had to go to Nook Islands to find one, and in at least two instances, despite the house not having yet been sold, there weren't any animals on the islands either.)

HOWEVER...

I've gotten a few campers, but they're literally always there at a time when no one's moved out. Which basically makes their presence little more than a tease.

Or at least that's how it's appeared.

Are there ways to get a random (non-amiibo) camper to stay or come back again despite being at max population? Am I missing a way to force out a resident while a camper is there?

Thanks!

They can kick out villagers, like amiibo cards, but they choose a resident at random and sometimes you need to win at their game. Also, you have to soft-reset for the right villager if you want to kick someone specifically. When they suggest someone you want to keep, turn off the game before the conversation ends, otherwise they will only want to kick the one villager because it autosaves.

Wow, I had no idea you could do that! That's really good information - it would suck to lose a resident that you'd really like to keep. Thank you!

I had a feeling that I was missing something!

Yeaaaah, I too didn't know about that. Cyd, who I definitely wouldn't have minded having in my village for a while, wanted Sherb to move out and I'm definitely not letting go of Sherb, would've been nice to know I could've just... reset the villager he picked.

But then again, that's not our fault: we shouldn't have to depend on resetting the console in order to decide who lives on our island, what was so hard with having it be the same way as with Amiibos and just having the randomly-generated camper be like "Your town's full... Do you know of someone that might want to move?" I'm thinking it might just be to keep the relevance of Amiibo Cards high since I don't think there's another 100% way to pick which villager moves out than using those but... that's just a theory.
