I told ZR388 (Jamie) I was going to do this thread, so I could share with everyone where I was going and what it is like. For those of you who do not know, on September 10th, I am going to be moving to Vilseck, Germany for the next three years for study and travel. I wanted to share my experiences somewhere where people would read and enjoy it. I have spent the last several days getting ready, but now I'm going to make this log here for all to see.

Image from Google of Vilseck, Germany in Bavaria.

Vilseck is a small German Hamlet found in Bavaria, a region of Germany just west of the Czech Republic. Vilseck is also just south of the USAG Grafenw?hr, one of the largest US Army bases in Germany.

I will not only be logging my travels to Germany, but my travels through America in the upcoming days following, then continue on with my trip to Germany and my travels throughout Europe in the next coming months.

This weekend I will be in Washington DC, Richmond and getting everything assigned in Fort Lee. I will be living on base as a civilian.

Next week I will be in Lubbock for a few days.

Then the next week I will be off to Germany.

I will be telling stories of my ventures as well as posting images that I have taken here. Feel free to discuss, but please do not use my images elsewhere. Thank you.

Very neat! I am a big fan of travel, exploring foreign places and language

I look forward to seeing your adventures. Will you be in the same place for the next three years or do you planning on moving about?

I will be living in Vilseck, but I will travel Europe for sure. I have a long list of places I want to see in Europe and will take this opportunity to capitalise on said list. Belgium, France, Prague (which will be so close!) Berlin, London, Denmark, Italy, Switzerland, Turkey and Greece. So expect a lot of images from all over Europe!

I'll definitely be checking up on this thread. I've talked to you quite a bit on skype about this already.

I really really recommend Prague, it's beautiful!! Also Berlin and Italy (especially Venice and Rome) are great.

That's amazing! I have a similar list of places I'd like to visit. We're planning one trip for next year but even at a couple weeks long, I don't think I'll get to see everything I want to see. Safe travels! I look forward to seeing lots of pictures. :)

Sorry, I was AFK for a few hours, but I'm home. I'm gonna pack tomorrow for DC, and then head out early the next day. Expect pictures as soon as Friday :3

I know a little german, crash coursed it hard core. I'll probably be taking classes while I'm there

Spain.

Believe me, you want to go to Spain.

I will add that to the list.

Sweden was nice for the whole two hours I was there.
Definitely visit as much as you can though, & I can't wait to hear about it.♥

One of my dreams is to go study abroad in Spain. I'm jealous of anyone that gets the opportunity to study abroad.

DAY 0 of travel

Today is the day before I leave for DC. I have to get a physical done today, and I have to get my travel vaccinations. I HATE shots. I HATE NEEDLES! I hate them all. ;O; Someone hold my hand, please.

I was up at six am with a kitten on my chest purring up a storm.

purringalarmclock.jpg

My six am purring alarm clock. He literally would NOT leave me alone.

I'll have better updates tomorrow, or later today. But right now I'm still waking up. Might get some coffee going or something.

Eeee~ He's a cutie >w< Also I hate getting shots too, it's such an uncomfortable sensation :<

I'm excited to read about your travels :>

Hi, kitty! Shots are no fun but glad you've gotten them out of the way and hopefully won't have to deal with them again. :)

A very long post about my horrible day for travel

Let me start out by saying today has been both a horror filled day full of tears and horror, expensive as hell and possibly the worst idea ever.

Today started out with my card being frozen. Not sure why, but we were unable to unfreeze it. It would have to wait until 8am (when my flight was supposed to leave) to find out if it could either be unfrozen or a new card issued, so we (My army friend, Jeff, and I), after three hours back and forth on the phone with me crying while driving a couple of times, decided to call the trip off, even though I had spent 400 dollars on tickets. You see, we didn't want me flying to DC just to be stranded because my card couldn't just be unfrozen but would have to be reissued.

I went home and cried myself to a half sleep.

Fast forward to 8am. Jeff calls me a tells me I can unfreeze the card. Que me beating myself up mentally and telling him I should have flown with hope and not doubt. He tells me to try to get new tickets. I go to the airport and get a "sorry your SOL" so I jump on priceline and quick order tickets. 517 dollars for a one way to Richmond. Where I am now.

Seeing as I had not eaten all day I took the opportunity to do so.

GG96h3r.jpg

Salad and phone charger. It was okay, I guess.

My tickets and my new book.

The first flight was horrible. Please note, I ABHOR flying. I hate turbulence and taking off and landing. And it's always so awkward to sit next to someone who wants NOTHING to do with you. My first flight was utter hell. The guy next to me was had cancer, so I didn't know how to talk to him because I'm an awkward duckling. He basically slept the whole flight. But I got some cool pictures.

Clouds~

From there I had to RUN to my second flight, which I just caught. Luckily I got a window seat, unluckily it was the very back of the small ass plane next to the jumbo motor. Made every jolt worse. However, I got some bad ass cloud shots.

Charlotte from the air. It was so COOL. Like moving Google maps. It was really cool.

Once we landed, I rented my first car ever and drove to meet Jeff on Fort Lee. I don't have pictures of this yet, but tomorrow we are going to Richmond and going to see the sites and wonders it has. I'll have more, less boring pictures for you then. Needless to say, I have no idea how we are going to make Rent this month (lol oops) but I think it's worth it because holy hell Virginia is beautiful.

I'm gonna go to bed now, however. I am beat, I ache and the bed behind me is calling to me like never before.

I'll have more pictures tomorrow night, and then Sunday night I'll be in DC taking a LOOOOOT of pictures (and drinking a loooot of energy drinks).
