I've been getting right back ink NL after taking a break over Xmas. I'm going to the Cafe every day but I'm not getting the chance to serve coffee /work for items anymore. Do I need to destroy my cafe and start again?
I've been buying coffe like a madman for two weeks. But, always first thing in the morning. So that's where I'm going wrong!

The fact that you're buying your coffee first thing in the morning doesn't matter. You can buy the coffee at any time and it counts towards your total.
The only hour limitations are for working, you can only work after 11 AM. I think that even if you're going to the cafe earlier than that, you'd still have the option to ask Brewster if you can work there, he'll just tell you he doesn't need any help at the moment. I can't remember. Also, I assume you'd remember if you'd unlocked that option.
Have you unlocked the take away coffee option yet?
I unlocked the work option maybe six months ago but then never did any of the tasks.
I went for coffee again this afternoon and I'm still getting 'see you tomorrow' from Brewster...
I'll try getting coffee to take away tomorrow and see if that makes a difference.
Ok sorry if this is super obvious, but just to eliminate all possibilities.
You need to talk to him from the side counter, not on one of the bar stools. From the side counter you have to talk to him twice. The first time he just says "welcome" and the second time he'll give you the option to work.
I mention this because it took me few days to realize that he didn't offer work until the second time you talked to him
