Today I'm buying my second copy of New Leaf, is there any advice for starting a new secondary game? Is there anything that you would recommend for me to do? Also, I don't want to have two copies of the game and make it feel repetitive, is there a way I can differentiate the second copy?

I hate my town layout and all my villagers but I have the house and sets I want, is it worth it to get another copy? I've currently achieved everything I want to in my town but still play everyday and it can get a bit boring, I would reset my town but I've achieved so much it would be a waste.

Sorry for all these questions but I need to make sure that my purchase is justified and I don't get bored.

Well, I'm not sure I can offer much advice but I can give you an idea of what I'm doing, or going to be doing, with my second copy.
I literally only just got it so I haven't really looked at it yet. I got it for the purpose of obtaining the rest of my dream villagers as there's too many I love and not enough space for them all.
Maybe you could focus on getting your favourite villagers in this second copy? Is there anybody you would particularly want?
I'm also going to do a full themed town this time, in my current town I've been trying to split the theme, again due to space restrictions. So now I'm doing a while fairytale theme.
Maybe you could even get the villagers to match a theme if you go with that?
Make up some challenges for yourself and it should stop you getting bored.

Plus, if you're not transferring anything over from your current town then you'll be starting from scratch anyway, so there will be lots to do. Getting perfect town, unlocking the train station remodel, collecting your villager pictures.

I'm looking forward to starting a fresh town and running two :)

I mean it really depends on your commitment to another town whether it be for cycling use or actual town use.

If you currently dislike your current layout/villagers you can always justify making your new game your main town and making your previous town a cycle town (to time travel while you play day to day on your main)

Having a second DS to play on makes it a lot easier to transfer items and villagers over that you want to keep and you can time travel to get the nook home exterior designs in your main town by cycling through your spare game.
Not really sure how having two games on one device works out. It could be easier or more difficult.

I bought a second copy of AC:NL recently to start my town again because I was freaking out over my digital copy getting corrupted, so I found my perfect map and started planning out which villagers I want.
Like I said before owning a second DS helps in moving items across that you want to keep especially if you don't want to grind out that time and effort again.

But I mean majority of this you can do with one game, you can even transfer items over if you find someone on the forums to help you. So getting a second game isn't really necessary if you don't think you will use it to its full potential.

I forgot to say, if you did want to move your belongings across to another town and you don't have a second ds (I don't, but I'm starting from scratch anyway) there are a lot of kind people on here who wouldn't mind helping you bring some of your stuff to your new town.
I have a museum room free myself if you did need anything taking across and haven't git another da to do it with.

When looking for a new map, I try to find one that I like but is completely different than the first one. I'm talking about native fruits, grass shape and the river. Maybe even the train station and town hall colors. While the beach isn't as important to me, it is nice to find one that's on the opposite side. I think it's more fun that way.

I've decided to buy a second copy in the end and I have no regrets, I'm expecting it within a few hours! :D
I'm not bothered about items or bells as I want to start completely fresh and with my new town I've decided to go with a natural theme, with dirt paths etc.
I'm still unsure with a few things, like choosing the best map and what gender my character will be (a male on my main) but I'm sure they'll fix themselves when I get to them.

Thanks for the help everybody!
