Buying HHD console, so doing a data transfer from old to new?!?!?!?

I forget the terminology, but there's a data transfer you have to do when you get a new 3DS console right?

So my question is, if I was to buy the HHD console with ACHHD pre-installed, and I do a data transfer from my old 3DS that has Mario Kart pre-installed (and a bunch of other stuff from eShop), will I lose anything?

I don't want to do this transfer, then lose the pre-installed version of ACHHD xD

I think you can do the data transfer between both of the 3ds so that your nintendo ID is set up on the new 3ds and THEN you should be able to redownload ACHDD from the e-shop.

I'll be doing this too and from everything I've read, it seems like it won't be a problem.

It'll be fine. I know from experience since I bought the New Leaf bundle. New Leaf got deleted so everything could transfer over, but I was able to redownload it for free after the transfer was complete.

Also related to that matter, I highly recommend you do either a Low-Capacity microSD card Transfer, or even better, Transfer Data Using a PC. The former will only transfer the most important datas to your New 3DS for 30 minutes, so you'll only have to redownload everything else from eShop. The latter has you getting a Phillips #00 screwdriver just to get the back cover out, so you can take out the microSD card whenever you. It is also the fastest method to get everything transferred, although you still need to take around 30 minutes to perform the transfer.

Whatever you do, avoid Wireless Transfer at all costs! Not only it'll take you hours, but it'll also make you more vulnerable to data loss caused by your Internet Connection's failure. Please do the transfer as soon as you find one that won't drop out randomly.

Man, this sounds like such a mission... I thought it just transferred logs of data (confirmed purchases) then you swap over the SD cards... and reinstall everything... surely you don't transfer 4GB of stuff wirelessly?
If anything surely it's via IR not internet?

It's by Wi-Fi. My transfer only took 10 minutes or so, but I don't have that many digital games. If your SD card is full, it'd probably take a while.

I think I'm using 3gb of 4gb.
I want to get a bigger SD card with the new console, unless it comes with one bigger than a 4gb.

Might have to wing it... cos I'll need to transfer the new card before transferring the data maybe... or maybe have to do it twice so I don't lose ACHHD... :/
