Buy a ship?

So I was riding over tortimer's island earlier and I was just thinking how cool it would be if I could have my own boat and just sail about maybe even find islands out along the way.

Then my imagination got the best of me what of there where deep sea fish you could only catch on the open sea ad insects specific to different types of islands, maybe season based islands seeing has tortimer's is aways summer
I mean there's already fishing an they added diving being able to have your own boat jus seems the next step.

Jus thought if share this idea what does everyone think?

Hmm... it would be pretty cool! You could use it instead of riding Kappn's boat, but you'd have to pay a hefty price for it.

I would definitely like having my own boat to venture forth on adventures. Admittedly minor adventures, but adventures nonetheless.

I jus think the game is in such a small area even if they put a lot of limitations on this i would find it a lot of fun!
And just think you could buy different color boats maybe there's motor boats sail boats jet skies lol I just feel it would be a great thing to add or see in the next title

That would be really neat if instead of a train station you could have an option to visit nearby islands through the dock on your ship! You wouldnt need to decorate it or anything, maybe have 3 options for ships. It would just be an appreciated animation much like the train ride. You can still use the train station to visit faraway towns!

Animal Crossing meets Minecraft? You could just jump in your boat and sail to new lands. Perhaps they could put some dream towns out there for the folks without wifi access to discover and explore?

I don't like the idea. I'm generally the one who doesn't agree with ideas, but I truly don't think it's a good idea. My reasoning is that making it is very difficult and I don't think it's really worth the effort of what's going to be put out. One island is already enough anyway, more than one and you're going to start confusing people. While the concept of the game is debatable and up for argument, I don't think that buying and steering a ship is something that would fit into the game's ideas very well. I think that there are much better ideas out there.

I respect your arguement fireninja1 but I believe it is something left to the evolving of the genre which is basically just this game as of now for the most part and In each installer there has been new things added and I feel this is a legitiment and plausible way for the series to go lol then again I am bias it's my idea lol

I don't mean to be a downer, but I have to agree.
I don't see much use for a boat that you'd buy, since we already have Kapp'n's, and we already have the train to travel to other towns. Although it might be a cute touch, I don't think it would fit very well.

That being said, It's still a creative idea none-the-less.

I have to agree with FireNinja and RetroT, it just doesn't sit well or feel right for the game to own your own boat. Though one thing that could be a cute touch would be Kapp'n's boat maybe having different designs in each town, similar to the different default train stations and town halls.

In my mind u don't jus use the boat like the train station you actual get to sail abt kinda like the zelda on GameCube that was all cartoony but on a smaller scale

I think this would be cool if it meant exploring other places, maybe they could make not tropical islands but other lands and you could buy the ability to go there the same way as a public works project. If it was just other tropical islands though it would probably be boring.

I...sort of get what you're saying? But I don't think that this would be the best direction for the game, because there are other things that already are being called for to expand already, like more villagers, a larger town, etc., that could make this game much more enjoyable for more people. The "evolving of the genre" though has ideas that mainly fall into a single, root, essence idea, and as I stated earlier, this does not fall into that category. Every installment of every game has new things, I really don't get the point of you saying that.
