Busting some 'myths'

I heard from someone who I considered a reliable source of ACNL info that if you plant fertilizer next to a fruit tree, it will maybe become a perfect fruit tree. I'm just gonna assume that it means native fruit only. Has anyone proved this to be true and if so, how long/how many fertilizers did it take?

Another question, I read on GameFAQs (a dubious source as it is) that you CAN change the song an animal plays in their house simply by 'sending a raw airmail check' of another song. I did this with Wolfgang and sent him 4 songs of K.K. Rock; 2 to not use cause animals are jerks like that, one to display in his house and 1 to use to play. However when I was finally able to go in his house, not only was he not playing the song, there were no songs displayed. He also never sent back a letter in acknowledgement. Is it not possible to change the song they play?

Update, he just gave me K.K. Rock as a random gift, so they are in his inventory. He just doesn't want to play them.

I can answer your first question, but I have never tried the 2nd question to know if it works or not. Fertilizer only increases the chance of 1 perfect fruit growing in a normal native fruit tree. Only with planting a actual perfect fruit can you get a full-fledged perfect fruit tree. You also can use fertilizer to revive dead trees (after shaking a perfect tree 5+ times), but it only becomes a normal native fruit tree. Hope this helps!

About 2 months ago I sent Ed K.K. Faire and he switched the music. It was playing in his house.
At the time he called me fairy godmother and K.K.Faire was in the store so I mailed it. I was very surprised when I dropped by his house days later. His song is K.K. Ballad.

I've sent music to other villagers including the music box and they never displayed it or changed the music. Ed has been the only one. Maybe it got changed with the update?

I can answer to the 2nd question.
I have Lobo who was given to me by my old friend, so I love this Lobo ever since he moved into my main town. He changed the music in his room to the one I gave him on his birthday. It's still playing in his room.
After I found this incident, I tried the same to some of my villagers. So far it looks like, when the friendship with them and you is hot, and you gift the song on their birthday they most likely switch their music to the one you gift.

I've never tried the music on their bday, usually I give them clothes, but I'm def gonna try that now.

That's for clarifying that MasterM64! I have tried the reviving thing before, and I was surprised it became a normal tree. Then again, I didn't know what to expect.

Another update, twice now Wolfgang has given me K.K. Rock as a random gift. Both times he didn't ask me to buy it off of him, he just gives it to me.

I've never seen any of the ACNL guides say songs are good birthday presents. I'm confused, are they?

Well, taken into account that the Prima guide is TRASH, I used to give them furniture. Then I read on thonky or somewhere that they like clothes, and apparently have a fav color. The fav color thing I feel like is for HHD, cause they've never said 'hey mayor did you know purple is the best color everrrrrrr?' So for the longest time now, I give them clothes in the fav style and they usually put it on right then and there. There are times they wont, but they seem to like clothes.

I just remembered another thing that I was trying to remember for like 2 days now.

I read (I do alot of reading) that when you create your secondary characters for a town you sold to Nook, and if you kept your catalogue, that they also have their catalogue and bells that may have been left in their account. I haven't created a secondary character yet in that town.

Thats not true right? It doesn't sound true.

I can confirm you are able to change a villager's song.

I've changed Chief's DJ K.K. to K.K. Love Song in two towns I've had before they've been deleted.

It's just all based on luck on when a villager will play a gifted song, first time it took me only one letter with music while the second time it took quite a while. I recall being able to use the plot reset trick for the second time and eventually plotted and saved the dummy villager when Chief finally played Love Song.
