Bug question!

Okay so I still really need this stupid mole cricket... it's very very hard for me and I was wondering, if it would be possible, can someone dig around for me for it? Like, I could stand by and actually catch it so I can go put it in my museum and such. It's just been very difficult for me, it's so hard to hear which direction it's going in...

I'm not sure you can get a mole cricket while your gate is open. Some bugs don't appear when your gate is open, and the mole cricket seems like it would be one of them since it's not found in a conventional way.

I checked the list that I usually use and the mole cricket is actually not on it, so maybe you can find it when your gate is open. I don't know if it's 100% accurate though, so if it takes a long time to hear one, then I wouldn't keep looking. I'd recommend you travel to a town with a lot of flowers since they don't appear under flowers in my experience, so they should be easier to find. Just don't screw up and dig up people's flowers.

Trying headphones so you can hear it better. If it's really loud you have two mole crickets in that area.
Find the loudest noise and dig. Avoid areas that are near the river.

What I do is I try to figure out when the sound of it gets really loud. I walk away from it and walk towards it, in a up - down and a left - right manner. Wherever it's the loudest, I start digging holes. I hope that helps.

well if having gate open is an issue, couldnt you invite somebody over and then close the gate once they've arrived?

According to Liquefy's faq mole crickets can be found with the gates open.
I remember in accf players asking for help in exactly the same way as OP has asked - so I think it should work - have someone digging the holes and you nab it when it pops up.

It is fairly slow to move, and headphones is a good idea.
I do find it tends to be near water.
I don't make a special hunt for it, just try if I hear the noise & its not near flowers, eventually you should get one, then ignore it as they don't go for much.
