Bug Off tips to getting whole set

So the bug off is coming up in the town I am playing, I have one or two pieces in my original town and more from the fish collection but would try to see if it's possible to get the whole set or at least what's missing here in this town. I always make the mistake of giving a larger bug too early and have never really taken the time to prepare to try to not just win but achieve the whole set...If no one is moving out that morning or even if I may as well try as they don't talk much that day and am not on night owl as still outing some, so I figure will play through it for real and deal with cycling out last few day after.

Being set in Sept this town, I don't know if it is possible to get all set items in the fall, but I think I counted twelve total maybe more with carpet and wall..anyone have a strategy for this...just going to the island night before and filling up with Beatles will instantly put me in a tier I may not be able to beat. I've always just grabbed a big bug turned it in at the end and kind of skipped the day aside ok and morning villager check but I want to try this time. So any tips, I've read the standard Thomas guide but it didn't really help with achieving this. Anyone done it in one shot day.

You need to go to another town. Turn in your bugs before the mayor. You can't set a record in that town, so as long as your bug is better than the set record, you can get as many items as you want. Works really well if you own both your towns on your own pair of 3DSes.
