Broken Porter?? Advice for some towns not showing up at the Porter?

I'm trying to travel to someone's town for a trade, and his gates are open...but the town is just not showing up at the Porter.

My WiFi connection is working fine--I can see three of my friends are online, and I travel to my best friend's town all the time. I'm selecting "faraway towns" every time. His friend card is active, so the FCs aren't the problem. I saved and quit, opened and closed my own gates, and even turned my WiFi off and back on again. I can't think of anything else to do.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I don't want to lose a trade or be a burden because my game is acting broken.

Sometimes the other person just needs to close and re-open their gates. Towns not showing up happens pretty regularly, and just reopening the town pretty much always helps

Alright, I'll ask him to do that again. He did it once before... I just hope it works next time! I'll update once he does.

Oh man, thank you so much!! I thought once the connection stopped canceling out with maintenance messages, it meant maintenance was over... I'll remember to check for this next time!
