diva sometimes mentions walking past the post office and feeling an urge to send me a letter! idk if this is a leak or a glitch or whatever, i guess she means the airport? idk...
to be honest I dont see them ever bringing back pelly or Phyllis or Pete unless it was for an event of some sort because of the letter stand in the airport. I miss them a lot aswell along with other characters that are no longer in the game that I dont see making a comeback. Harriet for example, we have the mirror and can customize what we want whenever so now she has no use, but I do really miss her.

I think she’s talking about the letters in the airport. It would be nice if it really was foreshadowing.

I was surprised Nintendo created Wilbur and Orville to man the airport, when it would have made just as much, if not more sense to have Pelly, Phyllis, and Pete be in charge of the airport. They could have called it 'Pelican Airlines', 'PAL' for short, and had Pelly and Phyllis working the desk during the daytime and night respectively, while Pete would take on Wilbur's job of taking the player to mystery tours.
It just seems disrespectful to replace NPCs who have been there since the very beginning, while shoehorning in Isabelle and not even giving her anything of substance to do.

Ooooh ok, yeah that seems foreshadowing.
Hopefully the stand is just like a tier 1 mail system with the post office being an upgraded tier 2 later down the line. The only reason we lost the post office was because it was quicker to make a stand than to add 3 more NPCs into the game during the initial development time.
I want them back too! And Pete as well. I can only imagine that they would bring them back as temporary event NPCs. I hate how they were replaced by a card stand
