and to respond to all of the posters before me...
no, it doesn't always take lots of time. it's totally random because 3-5 flowers will spawn in your town each day in random places. if they happen to spawn near flowers they are placed together in hybrid breeding formations, they have a chance of being a hybrid, or a duplicate of one of the parenting flowers. the season does not effect the chances of etting a hybrid because the same number of flowers spawns are the same year round.
