You have to tap the orange icon on the 3DS home menu. There, you will see a thing called the "friend list". You'll have to tap "add friend", then tap "internet". You'll then have to enter a 12 digit code. It's different for each person you add to your friend list. These codes are known as friend codes. Mine is...

It will then say to add a name. You can choose anything. I usually just put a random letter. It will correct itself later when I add you back.

You'll also have to give me your code. Remember, it's 12 digits.
