I had some luck getting blue roses out of breeding them from oranges! In fact, I just got a new one from my oranges today!
Fun fact: Blue rose was one of my first hybrids! Out of four orange roses in the checker pattern, I got my first blue. And I got my second either from the oranges again or an orange/blue pair. (I'm not sure which did it, since I put the blue right next to the oranges.)
They're still pretty rare for me to get, but once you get two that way, you just start breeding them together. : ) It worked for me, anyway!

It's because the hybrid orange roses were likely from the Mystery Tour from a hybrid island! Those orange roses have a fairly decent chance at producing a blue rose. I believe it is around 1 in 16!

That explains how I got one today. Although I already have plenty of blue roses, I had one pop up by two oranges. I forgot I picked up a few two days ago.

Yup, they were! They were a gift from my friend, who got a bunch of extras on a rare flower island.
