Blue rose question

I've been trying to breed blue roses, I got the red roses from my purple roses and orange/white roses so I thought that was good enough to produce blue roses but they've just been producing black roses. Am I doing something wrong? I'm watering them but... I'm thinking maybe I should just buy them off of someone lol.

Blues don't come from basic reds, they come from hybrid reds. My thread explains it. If you don't want to set aside a massive area of your island to breed blue roses, just buy them from someone else.

I read that before but it's hard for me to understand, I thought that if I got the reds from oranges and purples.. it should be fine?
But if they produce black roses I guess they're still the basic reds..???
