So.. My birthday is September 8th and I'd love to get some new games for my 3DS XL.
The only games I have now are Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Star Fox 64 3D.
I know I'll be getting Pok?mon X and the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (or the one that's released this year), but I was wondering which other games you guys think I really need.
I really like RPG and puzzel games, but only the really difficult puzzle games, not the simple ones xD If that makes sense.

Oh, I've heard about a game combining Ace Attorney and Professor Laytor, does anyone know if that one is coming out soon?

Well.. HELP ME PLEASE?!

If you like action and horror (mostly action but whatever), then Resident Evil: Revelations is a great title. Currently my favorite Resident Evil as well as my favorite 3DS game, it plays just like 4 and doesn't have a laughable story.
Another great title is Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Just like Resident Evil, it plays just like it's console predecessors. And you don't even have to have played any of the previous games to know what's going on, since the game tells you the plots of the previous games.
Some great first party games are Kid Icarus: Uprising and Mario Kart 7. Kid Icarus has an amazing and hilarous offline campaign and a great online feature, albeit with controls that are a little uncomfortable. And Mario Kart... who doesn't like it?

I've heard that Fire Emblem: Awakening is a really polished strategy RPG. If you're new to strategy games I believe there is a casual mode; if you're not, you should be right at home. Tales of the Abyss got a decent 3DS port; if you've never played a Tales of RPG, it's a great place to start. Mario and Luigi: Dream Team is more of a puzzle-platformer than RPG, but the RPG battle system is very well done.

Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney comes out next year, I believe, at least in NA.

Thanks guys! :3
I will definitely go look up some reviews and videos of those games.

The new Zelda game (a link between worlds) is coming out for 3DS but not sure when it's out. Another one is Disney Infinity, it looks okay but collecting all the characters like that skywards (not too sure on the title) could be a pain.

Mario Kart 7 is a must-have. I had it before I lost it in Florida and I loved playing it.

Fire Emblem: Awakening is also very fun. I only played the demo but I really want the full game.

Fire Emblem Awakening, anything by Atlus (Soul Hackers, Devil Summoners and Shin Megami Tensei IV), and Tales of the Abyss should cover any and all RPG itches. Haven't played Dream Team and Paper Mario wasn't well received by fans soo...

Puzzle wise get Layton and Miracle Mask, followed by the next title due out either at the end of this year or next alongside Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright. Speaking of Phoenix Wright, his fifth game should be due out within the coming months on eShop.

For racing games, Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed and Mario Kart 7.

For RPGs, Fire Emblem Awakening

For puzzle-related stuff, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon

For something you can just pick up and play as much as you want to, Pilotwings Resort.

Fire Emblem: Awakening, Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, and OOT 3D are the only games i have that I can recommend.
Mario Kart 7 is a let down. It has no VS. mode, so no racing as you please. You can only play Grand Prix and Time Trials (and battle mode, but it also feels empty), if you have no internet access.
I would skip Mario Kart 7, if I were you, but FE: Aand ML DT are good investments.
Worst part about Dream Team so far is the excessive hand holding, though. -_-
You won't have that in Fire Emblem

TL;DR: Fire Emblem: Awakening and Mario and Luigi: Dream Team: Good buys.
Mario Kart 7: Extremely limited single player gameplay, not worth it in my opinion.

I already have Mario Kart DS, so I won't be getting Mario Kart 7. But I think I'll get Fire Emblem: Awakening, it sounds really good and I like RPGs the best out of all gametypes.

Thanks to everyone for responding and helping me out :3

I think I'll get Pilotwings Resort as well, as I like games like that and I found one for only € 16,99 :D

In the RPG department, Rune Factory 4 is coming out in October and is one of the reasons I got a 3DS myself.

If you like Zelda esque combat and building relationships with the characters around you I think you will enjoy it.

Fire Emblem Awakening is a great game, it's one of my favourites. If you like RPGs or strategy games go with that.

Kid Icarus Uprising and Kingdom Hearts DDD are some good fast-paced action games.

Although I haven't played it, I hear Miracle Mask was good. I've played every other Professor Layton game and trust me, they are amazing as far as puzzle games go. Also, Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright is coming out next year in NA. It's a mix of puzzles and the gameplay features in Ace Attorney.

Another upcoming game is Rune Factory 4. I don't know what genre it would be, since there's a lot to do in it. The two main aspects are combat and farming, but you can also cook, craft, raise monsters, make your town better, get married/befriend the other townies, etc. along with a storyline. Also there's a lot of text/dialogue in this game (about 1.6 million Japanese characters) and that's never a bad thing in my opinion. ^^ I guess if you want a rounded out game you could go with this.

Looks like I don't need to bother recommending Fire Emblem, good job, guys.

I will say that I enjoyed Etrian Odyssey IV, there's a demo up on the eShop, and whatever progress made on it can be transferred over to the actual game.

Harvest Moon: A New Beginning is really fun. You'd probably enjoy it if you like sim games.

Pfew, so many great games, so little time :o
I will definitely be getting Fire Emblem and I might wait for Rune Factory.

I got Pilotwings Resort today, only paid ~ $16 :D I really like it so far!

I used to play The Sims a lot, but I don't know if I want a game like that on my 3ds. I played a harvest moon game on the DS, but got bored pretty quickly D: Maybe I just didn't understand what to do xD

Thanks again!

Be sure to try demos on the eshop. Fire emblem has one. As for RPGs, I'd also recommend Mario and Luigi Drem Team. That one also has a demo you can try.
