Best ways to raise friendship?

I wanna raise friendships with new villagers fast so I’ve been talking to them everyday, giving them gifts everyday and writing them with gifts included almost everyday as well. Is there anything else I can do to help raise it?

give rare butterflies or fish. choose the beautiful ones tho, they might display them.
i heard some personalities like getting certain stuff too, i'm just not sure if it's confirmed. what's confirmed is that each villager will have a favorite color for furniture, but i mean, since they don't request as much as older games anymore we can just gift them everyday. i was told lazies would like fruits, and normal/uchis like getting flowers.

When you give them presents make sure you wrap them. That should help raise the friendship level.

Complete a request for them

Wrap foreign fruit. It increases their friendship a lot without sabotaging their interior decors

Wait, so giving them presents only counts when friendship is already high? And wrapping them also doesn't help unless it's a birthday gift? Maybe that's why my girlfriend can't get the last reaction from Flip... she's starting to really hate him because she wants to move him out but only after getting all the jock reactions first, and she never liked him to begin with, but she's repeatedly giving him gifts and has tried wrapping them too and he won't give it. If giving them presents doesn't increase friendship unless it's already high then that seems odd to me, but would explain it I guess.

Actually, you can't even gift a villager in the first place unless your friendship is high. I think that is what it was referring to.
