best way to get new flower types?

every time (except 1) ive island hopped, the island still had my native flowers...i bought a new kind from nooks cranny, but its very limited

Sometimes with island hoping, you’ll find an island with your sister flower (ex: my native flower is roses and my sister flower is tulips). Other than that, you can easily get the other type of flowers from Leif. He’ll sell any flower that Nook’s doesn’t have. Or you can buy them from other people too

how do you know what your sister flower is? theres also the problem that idk how to make hybrid flowers- like, the process

The best way is through online play.

In game is a lot slower.
Nook's cycles through ~ 3 different types of flowers (I think monthly)?
Lief will stop by with a different stash but you have to wait for him to come by.
And I've only ever gotten one other type of flower doing island hopping (but I could be wrong about this)

by island hopping. you’ll encounter either your native flower or another flower. but only those two types.

for breeding, there’s a bunch of guides online that can help. but the basics is putting the same type of flowers next to each other and water them.
