I have a question, I am currently trying to breed hybrids in my town. I am pretty much settled on what colors makes the different hybrids but I wanted to know how you place out your flowers to get the most out of the hybrid breeding. Is there a specific pattern you noticed worked best?

I'm currently having the bell bloom ordinance in affect, but changing it after the fireworks show tonight.

:D

I've always been told to plant hybrids in a cross patterns, so

f x f x f
x f x f x
f x f x f

I hope that makes sense (f for flower!) Basically leaving a space between and planting diagonally.

yes there is! If you have the beautiful town ordinance, you get 3 hybrids a day. If you bury it with fertilizer and have the beautiful town ordinance, you get 4. If you bury the fertilizer with a golden shovel and have the beautiful town ordinance, you get 5 which I think is the max you can have a day. The best position for your flower pattern looks like this Pattern.jpg
Hope that helped and it wasn't that confusing! :)

Ok. First up, the Beautiful Town Ordinance is best to have when breeding hybrids, but you don't need it, if you use fertiliser. Fertiliser is available at T & T Emporium. Just dig it next to a certain flower and they grow. Next, Jacob's Ladders also come in handy. You get them when your town is at the Perfect Town rating. When you put Jacob's Ladders next to a hybrid when breeding, the chance of getting the flower you wanted is higher, and this becomes useful when you're breeding flowers like Blue Roses and etc.
Now, for the useful tips for breeding them.
There's a specific pattern that works. It's the cross pattern.
For example, if you want to breed Orange Cosmos, you need White and Red Cosmos.
You put the White Cosmo in the middle, and then the Red Cosmos all around it.
Here's a diagram:
W = White Cosmo
R = Red Cosmo
- = Space

--R
RWR
--R

That's the easiest way of breeding them. They are more likely to spawn that way.

Um, did you mean a pink cosmos? because white and red make pink, not orange :)

Thank you all for your fast answers, I'll be making sure to have the beautiful town ordinace in affect and hopefully I can get my hybrids going as soon as possible!

Planting flowers and fertilizer is only half the job. There are some points to consider.

The following flowers should never touch:
- White and yellow of any species.
- Yellow and yellow of any species.
- White cosmos with white cosmos.
- White tulips with white tulips.
- Red pansies with white pansies.

Having more red flowers than yellow or white flowers in a garden increases the odds of hybrids spawning.

The checkerboard pattern works pretty well, but it looks stale, if you lay it out like an actual checkerboard. I plant my gardens by placing a red "x" in the middle and surrounding it with white or yellow flowers. That way, I can get multiple hybrid colors simultaneously.
