I'm trying to get a Shiny Gyrados (would transfer from HG/SS, but Pokebank costs money :() by chain fishing and I caught 2 Shiny Seaking and no luck for Gyrados. Is there a better method? And if there is, can you explain it in detail?

the best shiny method is the masuda method (however you spell it)

I got 2 shiny tympoles in under 5 minutes.

o_O What? I can go through THOUSANDS of Pokemon through MM and never get a shiny.

Yes you are. The quickest I've gotten a shiny from it is around 200 eggs.

I feel as though I should mention that these two shiny pokemon were the first I have legitimately obtained in all of my years of playing pokemon (which has been since pokemon yellow)

With MM I usually get a shiny within one or two boxes of eggs. It's a pain I don't bother with it anymore. Some people get lucky and others have to hatch 100 plus eggs.
