I've been hosting a lot recently, and was wondering if anyone had tips for how to be a better host (especially for really popular items and high turnip prices...) and get through people quicker >_<
If possible to do so, I find giving some kind of direction to visitors on where to go is helpful, especially if your island is complex, so they're not constantly pulling up the map or getting lost (has happened to me lol)
So maybe the use of fences or arrow signs to direct people.
I've also had hosts surprise me with the option to pick up some freebies which was so sweet.
but also letting a few people in at a time - it’s a much quicker process as there are less disconnections and you’re able to cycle through people easier.
using the website turnip.exchange has been really helpful for hosting for me! you can pick how many people you want to let on at a time so things don't get crazy.
If there’s nothing valuable lying around I’ll use bunny day balloons to lead a path for visitors looking for a villager DIY. I’ll explain that to them in my message when I share the dodo.
I could probably try out turnip.exchange again, but I've heard people say they do some shady stuff under the hood, so I'm not really sure... but it's pretty convenient compared to DMing people codes >_<

I've heard that whatever they're doing is against Nintendo's TOS.
On hosting, I once visited another island to sell turnips and the host had set up fences where I could only follow along it and go to their Nooks. I could not go anywhere else. If I ever host for good turnip prices, this is what I'm planning to do.
with turnip.exchange, you can set it up to make your island "private" and just create a thread on TBT forums and post the link. that means that it won't be listed on turnip.exchange publicly and it's likely only TBT users will join. i'd highly recommend using it because it has a queueing system, which means you don't have to (painstakingly) private message dodo codes to everyone, ensure that the people who receive it come on time, and space out your DMs so that you aren't stuck in loading screen hell. the turnip.exchange system takes care of all of that
I've seen people use fences that only go from the airport to the shop and maybe the town hall. Also I've seen people make arrows on the ground (custom designs?) to guide people.
