I am sorry if this has been answered previously or elsewhere, but is there any way to have a villager stay in your town if they are already in boxes? I did not play the game for only 2 days and now one of my favourite villagers is in boxes.

Unfortunately, if a villager is already in boxes, there is no way to reverse what has happened :/

Unfortunately, no... Once they're in boxes, they are really leaving and there's no stopping them...

They're right...the best thing you can do now is find someone to take the villager for you, cycle through 16 villagers (move em in and then out) and get your villager to move back to your town.
