Yep!! You'll be stuck with a .blogspot.com name at the end, but that's the same as Wordpress' free service as well. IIRC it's easy to change names as well, given that they are not taken. Haha yay, I'm glad I convinced someone to join blogger. Good luck with your blog!!

I like WordPress.com better than blogspot, because it isn't tied into Google. Both are fine for a basic blog, though.
I personally view Tumblr as more of a social media website than a blogging platform imo, but it might be what you're looking for.
