Welcome!
If I could give one piece of advice, it would be don't do what I did and sell your first perfect fruit. I didn't know how hard they were to come by and was thinking only of getting enough money to pay off my first loan and buy tools.
It's better to sell regular fruit and shells and then buy a shovel. You can use the shovel to hit rocks. There will be an ore rock and a money rock each day.
When you find your one and only perfect fruit, take it and plant it somewhere safe so a villager can't plop their house down on it. That way you can grow perfect trees.
Speaking of villagers plopping their houses wherever, if you have the Welcome Amiibo update or version of the game, villagers won't put their houses on top of patterns as long as you leave ample space for them elsewhere. In this game, villagers seem to love putting their houses in the worst possible locations, directly in front of your house, in front of Re-Tail or Town Hall, or on your fruit trees and flowers. If you have areas that you want to protect, you can put down patterns on the ground to keep villagers from building their houses there. Just be sure they have at least a 3x3 space somewhere else to put their plot.
Good luck!
