You can use foreign fruits. Nook buys em 500 bells a piece! That's what I do. You can fish, sell fossils ( if you dont donate them ) and sell useless furniture. I still prefer the foreign fruit method; just go to a friends town, pick up a few of their fruit ( make sure it's different from your towns ) and go plant them in your town. You'll make money pretty quick.
