Bell Trees / Money Trees

Does anyone know what the new rules are for money trees (the trees that have three bags of money instead of fruit)?

The old probabilities don't seem to hold, as even planting a 99k bag doesn't have a good probability of sprouting an actual bell tree.

It used to be that the more money you planted, the better the odds that a money tree would form.

However, in New Leaf, I planted 10x 99k bags, and only got one actual money tree to sprout....

I did use the golden shovel for all.

I think it's that you have to use a golden shovel for sure, no idea on the others.

If you plant more than one bell tree per day, ONLY one will bloom.
So its best to plant one bell tree per day.

Im planting bell trees as well and you can only plant one per day

Dont bother with planting them for profit. You WILL be wasting your time. They can be planted for prettiness though.

Not for profit. I have over 100m bells, I really don't need money. I'm just using them for aesthetics in certain areas.
