I think this would be really cool if somebody had to computer power and internet to do it... I would be all for making it on my own computer (I know my way somewhat around servers, made a tekkit one of my own) but my computer isn't good enough for a big server, I have an intel core i5-2500k sandybridge @3.3 ghz quad core, and 8gb of ram (Dont remember what type), and my internet is terrible clocking in at about 25 Mbits/sec (around 2-3 MegaBytes/sec) download, and .99 mbits/sec upload. Not really sure how many people here play minecraft but I think the server would still be really good because of the great community here.

I don't think you'll need a hugely powerful server if we keep it within TBT and use a whitelist system.

its my internet... http://canihostaminecraftserver.com/ go there get your internet speed here http://www.speedtest.net/ and put it in the first website. then put in the amount of ram you have. On windows go to computer then system properties at the top. then look for installed memory, then multiply that by 1024 thats the ram you put in on the first website. then click tell me what I can run. After I do that I can host 4 people including myself. Internet is SO important for servers...

I have 8gb ram, easily enough for a small server of probably like 40 people. I just need the internet. I just live in freaking middle of nowhere and I get crap internet lol

Well I've been on Bacon Boy's server for a while as long as some other TBT members and we just have fun messing around in creative and playing the occasional adventure map.

I have the power to run it. My computer is home-built. It has 16gb DDR3 RAM. (I know, it's overkill.)
Sadly, my upload speed is poop, thanks Rogers.

I used to run a server off my old computer, it ran it fine for a handful of people.
It began to get used and abused, people taking advantage of a kindness I put out there to host it.

Wow thats awesome. My RAM might be DDR3 but I don't really remember (I am pretty sure it is, anything that isn't is sort of crappy. We wanted a pretty good gaming computer) ._. My bro and his friend built my computer the May before last. I had some input on what we should get but I wasn't much help because I didn't know much about tech stuff back then, since they built it though and I saw all the different parts they had to hook up when building the comp I became interested, started watching benchmarks for different CPUs/GPUs ect and learned a bunch about them. Yeah now me and my friend are the geeks of our grade ._. Its terrible how geeky we are but I don't care, it's interesting to me x)

A lot of people are able to run minecraft servers as long as there is pretty much a dump load of bandwidth.
