Balloon Presents

So today I bought a silver slingshot by someone (if you see this, you know who you are, so thanks hehe) so I could finally pop the balloons in the sky. I'm tired of seeing them everywhere knowing I can't pop them because I didn't have a slingshot, so I bought one! And now that I have one, they aren't showing up

Does anyone know if they have a certain time they appear and WHERE? Or is it just completely random??

I believe it's completely random, I suggest using sound so you can hear them and just stand outside til one comes.

I believe in New Leaf they appear when the minute ends in a 4 so 9:54am or 2:34pm or a similar time. I'm not sure if they appear every ten minutes but if they don't they appear very regularly. They drop each piece of the Balloon Series of furniture until you have one of each unique piece then drop a mixture of the Balloon Series and other regular furniture (even including some unoderable RV items after the Welcome Amiibo update.) They also drop the Silver and Gold Slingshots I believe after a certain number of other balloons have been shot down.

hehe glad you're enjoying the slingshot- and yess as others have said, i'm pretty sure balloon-spawning is random. my only tip i guess would be to just keep the sound up while you move around town so you can hear even tiny "whoosh"es as presents drift by far away. good luck!!

I've been told hat every minute ending with a 4 they spawn somewhere near your beach cliff, and every minute ending with 8, near the opposite cliff. I did wait near my campground cliff once and one did appear...

Thanks for the info! And I read on a wiki that that come when the minute ends in 4 but I don't see that happen often :/ It's currently 4:39 PM right now, I'm going to stand outside and see what happens when it hits 4:44

EDIT: I waited, no balloon showed up, I went in front of my house and a balloon appeared, but it was at 4:45, maybe start flying at 4:44 but appear in your town later?? lmao

If they do spawn at a minute that ends in 4 then depending on where you stand in your town they may take longer to reach you since they do not travel very fast.

It didn't work for the 8 minute one (but that was just once) and it did for the 4 minute one! Thanks to everyone to helped me out

tbh i dont really like the items balloon presents contain, i only pop them if i have my gold slingshot with me to get towards a gold badge of popping a certain amount

Just after I made my second post I was walking on the beach with my second character and a balloon started floating in from over the sea and I checked the time - 9:54pm. He doesn't own a slingshot but it made me smile.

Guys, I researched and I was wrong! They always spawn at minutes ending with 4, but the cliff side alternates! So if at 10:14 a presents comes from the sea, at 10:24 it'll come from the opposite side. Source: https://nookipedia.com/wiki/Balloon_(floating)

You don't have to have a slingshot to pop balloons. If you stand by the beach cliff as one comes up or goes down there you can pop it with your net. This may work on the other side as the balloon comes down but I've never tried it. I got the silver slingshot before the regular one by doing this.

I know, he doesn't own any tools. He just stands and watches things. He does storage and having hair I refuse to get pushed down.

Don't forget tho that the balloon appears on ending with 4 but takes a couple minutes to reach other side of your town.

Just to confirm other posters - balloons spawn at a time ending in 4 - and take approx. 4 mins to get across the town - well I can pop a balloon on xx.x8 but something has been in the way (ocean/cliffs) on xx.x9

They can come from either side, and don't seem to follow specific paths as they did in accf (albeit they might do).
What I often do is at xx.x6 I look along the whole length of the middle of my town & usually get it.

If you go into a building or exit after xx.xx4 then you won't get a balloon passing in that 10 min slot - well that is my experience. It highly likely includes going up to main street.
But doesn't seem to include Harvey's campground - as I got one appearing just after coming down from it - but I may have just snuck in on the time - needs other players to confirm either way.

I still pop balloons as after getting all the balloon furniture you get better items - normal & RV stuff, but I also still get balloon furniture & silver sling shots occasionally. You will only ever get one gold sling shot - once you shoot it down & pick it up - that's it for that character.
