a lot of my villagers were or are autistic carmen is autistic definitely, and also chrissy! my mayors are autistic because i am autistic

I'm high functioning but I don't headcanon anyone as autistic.
Personally it doesn't feel right, but I don't mind if anyone does it. My mayor is def OCD because I have it and I like having my town a certain way.

Wow. The OP has autism. She or he isn't calling their villagers "mental," just simply saying that in their headcanon that's how they see it. Not trying to call you out, but it's kinda rude to say everyone in your town is "normal" - it implies that the OP or anyone who has a autism or a personality/mental condition is abnormal. I doubt you intended it to come off as that way, but it's good to be aware of for future reference.

I'm not autistic (as far as I'm aware) so I'm not as knowledgable about it as I could be, but I did see a tumblr post going around a while ago that noted how similar the habits of some villagers/special characters are to common traits of autism, and it actually gained some traction. It made a lot of sense to me, too, so this headcanon is definitely not as uncommon as one might be led to believe.

I've read quite a few posts here and elsewhere about some villagers being autistic. I've never really thought about it, but if they are then they are lol, I don't view them differently because of that. The only thing that really stood out to me when talking about villagers being autistic was Eugene talking about trains.
