I used to sell villagers back when I was poor, but now that I got the Tycoon badge and the post office abd, there's really no need anymore. People like to sell villagers so they can save up enough money to buy their own. Some people like to wait for campers and cycling threads, but others want to get into the bidding game (and believe me, bidding can be really fun! It's how I got Kabuki). It all depends on how you like to play the game.
What gets me is when people get on other people's cases about it! No one it telling YOU to buy the villager! If someone wants to pay 40 million bells for a video game unicorn, let 'em! It's not your place to tell them how to play the game. They made those bells, and if blowin' 'em on villager makes 'em a happy camper, then let it be.
